The
University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines
(UVSQ) and the Institut Supérieur International
du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et de l'Aromatique
Alimentaire (ISIPCA) have created a unique programme
in Fragrance and Cosmetics leading to a dual competence
both scientific and management with a university
diploma which will give students international
recognition.
The
programme has been created for worldwide students
in search of a multicultural education. The idea
is to give participants a double competence: an
inside knowledge of the perfumery and cosmetic
sectors from a scientific point of view and an
understanding of the strategic and managerial
aspects of business and marketing in those sectors.
Successful
completion of the course should prepare students
for a career in all areas of R&D as well as
marketing and product development. Students will
acquire a broad understanding of all roles as
well as achieving professional training within
the industry along with a vocabulary indigenous
to the perfumery and cosmetic sector.
The
programme is entirely delivered in English. The
first year, held in Versailles (France) is essentially
technical and scientific (perfumery, cosmetic
and chemistry) but applied directly to some of
the most luxurious subjects in our history. The
perfumery and cosmetic modules are delivered by
Group ISIPCA and chemistry modules by the University
of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (UVSQ).
For
the second year students head off either to Plymouth
(UK) or Padova (Italy) to absorb themselves in
business administration and marketing which represent
a necessary complement for today's scientific
students. It provides an intimate knowledge of
business and marketing management as applied to
the perfumery and cosmetic sector.
The
University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines
is renowned for its multidisciplinary choice of
subjects, with particular strength in scientific
fields. It has strong potential in research, specifically
in chemistry. Since 1993 Group ISIPCA and UVSQ
have provided an educational programme for specialists
in cosmetics, perfumery and food flavourings (master
level) in partnership with the industry.
Group
ISIPCA is managed by the Chamber of Commerce of
Versailles Val d'Oise/Yvelines. It is a leading
institute worldwide in the development of perfumery,
cosmetics and food flavourings.
The
University of Plymouth in the UK has developed
a national and international reputation for high
standards, both academically and in research.
The management courses for perfumery are designed
to provide a sound basis within the world of business
with special projects in cosmetics and perfumery.
The
University of Padova (Italy) is one of the oldest
and most prestigious universities in the world.
The faculty of pharmacy is recognised as a leader
in its field for cosmetic and pharmaceutical subjects.
The faculty of economics is on the cutting edge
of innovation and international orientation. These
two faculties will organise specific courses of
marketing and business management in perfumery
and cosmetics.
A
first hand knowledge of the industry is also vital
and the students will have a four month training
period in the industry to complete the second
year t raining. The students will put the knowledge
they have acquired during their training programme
to good use.
Examinations
will be held in both Versailles and the partner
university. To be eligible for the course, students
need a Bachelor degree or equivalent, preferably
in scientific matters or have at least five years
working experience in these sectors.
The
course starts early October of each calendar year.
