The Aix-en-Provence IAE is part of the Aix-Marseille University, located in the South of France, within France’s second largest metropolitan area after Paris. The Institut d’Administration des Entreprises (IAE) was founded in 1955, becoming the first graduate School of Management in the French public University. Dedicated to postgraduate education and research, it developed throughout the years a variety of master programmes in specialised fields of management, adapting constantly to the needs of the business world. The IAE-Aix was awarded the European EQUIS accreditation in 1999.

In our fast changing business world participants have difficulties to stop working for two years in the middle of their nascent career. After a few years of work experience they should be in charge of a project, not discovering management principles. More and more participants have a management training in their undergraduate studies and do not need all the basic courses of a general MBA. Yet taking some electives after the basic courses is still not enough to become a strong professional in a field constantly evolving.Most of the new exciting jobs will not be in the old economy or even in the dot.com economy but at the interface of these two worlds. Our MBA programme provides participants with strong skills and competence in a specialised professional field - Human Resources Management, Financial Management, Service Management, Leading Change or E-Business - and an understanding of the strategic implications of nowadays fast changing business world, through a unique cross-cultural interdisciplinary set up - integrative weeks, international seminars, conferences, business project - spread out throughout the year.The quality of our programme is supported by a large number of full-time professors (all holding PhD’s), in collaboration with outstanding academics and highly successful practitioners. Action learning methods, simulations, integrative work and on-going appraisal of the development of participant’s skills contribute to their success. Participants from each track get together regularly for the core programme seminars and business project, thus enhancing their cross-functional communication skills. Courses are taught mainly in English. The understanding of the French language is encouraged and supported to enable participants to follow the courses when delivered in French. International seminars, high quality visiting professors and good mix of nationalities (30-50% international students) foster the programme’s international vocation. In this world, being able to work with others in a cross-cultural context, is a must.

Dans un monde économique en pleine mutation, les jeunes managers souhaitent se former dans des délais courts tout en se spécialisant. Après quelques années d’expérience, ils cherchent un accélérateurs de carrière. De plus en plus de participants ont une approche généraliste du management et de bonnes bases en gestion. Suivre quelques cours d’approfondissement n’est pas suffisant pour devenir un spécialiste dans un secteur donné.

Notre programme MBA permet aux participants d’acquérir des outils et une compétence dans un domaine professionnel particulier - Ressources Humaines, Finance, Management des Services, Conduite du Changement ou E-Business - et une compréhension globale des implications stratégiques du monde économique actuel en s’appuyant sur un tronc commun interdisciplinaire et interculturel (Action Learning - semaines intégratives, séminaires internationaux, conférences, projet de création d’entreprise se déroulent toute l’année).

L’enseignement est dispensé par un corps enseignant permanent appuyé par des professeurs étrangers de renom ainsi que des professionnels d’entreprises. Les méthodes pédagogiques utilisées incluent des processus interactifs, du travail en groupe et une évaluation permanente des progrès des participants, contribuant ainsi à leur réussite. Les participants de chaque filière se retrouvent régulièrement pour les séminaires du tronc commun et le projet d’entreprise, développant ainsi leur aptitude à communiquer avec les différents métiers de l’entreprise. Les cours sont pour la plupart enseignés en anglais. Des cours intensifs d’anglais sont proposés aux étudiants francophones, et l’apprentissage du français est encouragé et soutenu pour permettre à tous les participants de suivre les cours délivrés en français.
