We look at a new study of business schools in the United Kingdom
The Association of Business Schools (ABS), in conjunction with Emerald Publishing, has just launched ‘The History of UK Business and Management Education’ by Allan Williams.
Professor Williams, Emeritus Professor at Cass Business School, City University London, has previous published works relating to human resources management and organisational development, and more recently to leadership and organisational histories.
Synopsis
The History of UK Business and Management Education is in four parts:
Establishing a UK model
“This is a book,” says ABS Chief Executive Jonathan Slack, “that draws together the main influences that have resulted in the impressive emergence of business schools in the UK, and identifies the main institutions and individuals involved. While the American influence on the development of UK business schools is acknowledged, the emphasis in this book is on UK contributions.”
ABS represents all the business schools in the UK, collectively providing business and management education for over 250,000 students a year. It is a member of the European Quality Link (EQUAL) - the international association of quality assessment and accreditation agencies in the field of European management education.
